Hauraki scored another outstanding try down the right wing in the 23rd minute beating four would be tacklers and it was clear to North Harbour that he was the danger man.
Cass Walding was controlling the game from first five and scored after 36 minutes with the conversion added by Maihi Brown to give Northland 17 points for the first half.
Northland was playing an expansive gave and North Harbour were playing the game closer to their big pack.
North Harbour scored two converted tries and added a penalty to lock the score at 17 all at the break.
Northland changed a number of players at halftime and continued to play an expansive game with Cass Walding scoring again in the first five minutes followed by a Regan Haynes try in the tenth minute to give Northland a 27 to 17 lead.
North Harbour replied with a penalty after 18 minutes and Maihi Brown added a penalty for Northland to make it 30 points to 20.
Northland halfback Logan Wendt scored a try out wide in the 24th minute to give Northland a 35 points to 20 lead and the game looked all but over for North Harbour.
North Harbour then found another gear with Kawhena Woodmans son Baden Woodman looking really dangerous at centre scoring tries in the 30th minute and 33rd minute one which was converted to lock the score at 35 points to 34 with five minutes to play.
North Harbour had Northland pinned in their own 22 metres for the final stanza but huge defence particularly from Kamo No6 Jack Tango and Wellsford prop Ross Wright kept North Harbour from scoring and the crowd erupted when the referee blew the final whistle giving Northland the win and earning the right to play Bay of Plenty in the Northern Regions Tournament final next Saturday in Whangarei.
The win also gave the team the prestigious Nau Cherrington Memorial Trophy, a trophy that is played between Northland, North Harbour and Auckland Maori at senior level which has not been won by Northland for ten years.
Mana has been restored to Maori rugby in Northland and coaches Laurie Davies and Snow Tane are hoping the boys can get up one more time and win the Northern Regions final.
